You’ll have the whole place to yourselves! There is also a shared rooftop patio on the same floor overlooking Morris that guests are welcome to use! The building has a cool pedestrian walkway that runs along the lower level connecting Morris Avenue and 1st Avenue N. There are restaurants, art galleries and boutique shopping in the lower level of the building! There is both metered and unmetered street parking. The metered spots are free on nights and weekends. There are also two lots behind the building. One is a lot with a gated arm for $4/day and another is an open lot for $10/ day.
We live just a short distance away and are always available to answer questions or provide suggestions of favorite things to do around town!
Birmingham’s downtown has gone through quite the revitalization in the last decade or so. There’s still a lot of potential for growth but Birmingham has some world class restaurants, important history and cool opportunities for urban exploring, as well as some beautiful nature not far from the city! You’ll be in the heart of it all staying at Mercantile on Morris! The rotary trail runs from Railroad Park to Avondale and is a fun way to explore the city on bikes or by foot. The Civil Rights Institute, Birmingham Museum of Art and many restaurants, breweries and bars are also just a short distance from the condo.
Depending on where you’re heading during the day, you may or may not need a car. Public transportation in Birmingham isn’t the best but we do have buses that run downtown, Uber and Lyft are easy to use and scooters and bikes are available for rent all around downtown. Parking is either street parking or parking in a gated lot behind the building which costs $4/day.
There is street parking on 1st Ave N and Morris Avenue, as well as on 23rd St. There are some metered and some unmetered spots. Unmetered spots are always free and the metered spots are free nights after 5pm and weekends. There is a gated parking lot behind the building off of Morris with parking for $4/ day and an additional open lot right across the street on Morris for $10/day.
